It is our desire to be a gospel centered movement of Christ that Loves God, Loves People, and Changes the World.
Loving God and Loving People. That’s what we are about. We want to see our community changed through the love of God and the power of His Gospel like a river changes the landscape around it. Living the Christian life is not about being religious, it is all about growing meaningful a relationship with God, the people you encounter each day, and your community.
When it comes to doctrine The River Church believes that there ought to be unity in the essentials and love in the non-essentials. In other words, we are united by the non-negotiable tenets of Christian orthodoxy: sin is the problem, Jesus is the answer, the Bible is true and authoritative, etc. We choose to intentionally focus on the essentials that bring unity, rather than the non-essentials that focus on our differences.
The non-essentials allow room for differences when it comes to secondary matters. This mindset will foster unity among the diversity of expressions found at The River Church. In this way, it is our desire that we will heed to the Bible’s commands to have sound doctrine (1 Tim 4:16, Titus 1:9, 2:1), to love our Christian brothers and sisters (1 Pet 4:8, 1 Jn 4:7-21), and avoid unnecessary divisions (Romans 16:17, 1 Cor 1:10, 12:25; Titus 3:10).
